Jack Rides for WASLI Day 1

Jack Rides for WASLI Day 1

March 2nd, 2014

Day one of my Bangkok to Phuket bicycle ride promoting www.wasli.org/donation to fundraise for interpreters from developing countries to get to the WASLIU 2015 conference.

Early start as we picked up the other four riders from hotels around Bangkok.  Drove out of the city and then our ride began.  Short day.  About 60km. But head winds or strong side winds most of the way as we rode around the northwest curve of the Gulf of Thailand.  Long straight roads with endless salt beds on either side in varying states of harvest.

We had a crew from Thai television channel 3 filming us most of the day for a documentary on cycle tourism.  Due to be screened next month.

Ended the day in Hua Hin with a dinner in a restaurant right above the beach, looking out to four flood lit warships standing guard over the King who now lives at a palace in Hua Hin.

Please support the WASLI cause and donate at www.wasli.org/donation. $430 donated before I started, should be able to reach $5000 by the time I finish.
